THRIVEE

I founded Thrivee to connect African students to job opportunities suited for them. I designed and built the first version, A student-friendly job board which had 15k users. I also led a 3-person team that designed the primary product, a robust talent-matching platform. Thrivee suspended operations in February 2023, as a result, the talent-matching platform didn’t go live.

Onboarding

I designed the student onboarding process. The goal was for students to provide all the information that will help Thrivee match them to jobs they have higher chances of getting. Users were also given the flexibility to skip sections as needed.

Mobile Experience for Students

We learned from our research that most students will use Thrivee on their mobile devices so we prioritised crafting a seamless mobile experience. The design ensured user comfort and avoided the typical pitfalls of simply responsive desktop screens, creating an interface that felt tailor-made for mobile usage.

Collaboration for Employers

We designed features that allow

employers not only to post jobs and identify promising early-career candidates but also to foster collaborative efforts within their hiring teams.

Conclusion

Although Thrivee faced a pause in operations, the impact on young Africans was tangible and gratifying. Our community, comprising 1,000 students, and the expansive reach of the job board with 15,000 active users demonstrated the significance of our mission. While the talent-matching platform, despite its substantial groundwork, didn't go live, I take pride in the meaningful impact we achieved.
